Super Mario Galaxy 2 wins BAFTA for best gameplay

By Jack Taylor – 16 March 2011

Super Mario Galaxy 2 has won a BAFTA for Best Gameplay at the British Academy Video Game Awards in London.

It beat Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, God of War III, Limbo, Heavy Rain and Mass Effect 2 to the award, which celebrates outstanding gameplay in a video game.

It was Nintendo's only win of the night, however, with Heavy Rain for PlayStation 3 scooping three awards, beating Super Mario Galaxy 2 to the BAFTAs for Best Original Music and Technical Innovation.

In the category for best handheld title, Professor Layton and the Lost Future and Sonic Colours lost out to new iOS title Cut the Rope.

Mass Effect 2 took the title of best game at the awards.

Surely that's old news by now...
