Satoru Iwata reveals new Super Mario platformer for Nintendo 3DS

By Jack Taylor – 2 March 2011

Satoru Iwata has revealed that a new Super Mario title is currently in development for the Nintendo 3DS.

Iwata was giving the keynote speech at the 2011 Game Developers Conference today when he confirmed that a new 3D Super Mario title was in development for the system.

The title is being developed by the same team behind the two Super Mario Galaxy titles for Wii and will be unveiled officially at E3 in June.

In the meantime, Iwata provided the first four screenshots of the title, as well as a temporary logo. In the logo, which simply reads "Super Mario", the shadow of the "o" has a tail; Iwata said the reason for this would be revealed at E3.

Surely that's old news by now...
