Capcom has announced a follow-up to the acclaimed hit Ōkami, with Hideki Kamiya returning as director.
Announced during The Game Awards with a teaser trailer, the Ōkami sequel will be directed by Hideki Kamiya and will be co-developed by three studios - M-TWO, Machine Head Works, and Kamiya's new studio CLOVERS - all of which include staff who worked on the original Ōkami.
Kamiya, formerly of PlatinumGames before leaving in 2023, directed the original Ōkami, which was first released in 2006 for PlayStation 2, with a Wii release following two years later; an enhanced version, Ōkami HD, has since been released for platforms including PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.
Capcom has said that lead character Amaterasu "and friends" will return in the sequel, and that it will be "some time" before more information about the game is announced.
