Nintendo Switch 2 will launch worldwide on 5 June, with Mario Kart World as its key launch title.
After months of speculation and anticipation, Nintendo has announced that Nintendo Switch 2 will launch worldwide on Thursday 5 June, with Mario Kart World launching alongside it as a standalone title and as part of a hardware bundle.
The standalone console will cost £395.99 in the United Kingdom, $449.99 in the United States, and €469.99 or equivalent in Europe. It will also be available in a bundle with a digital code for Mario Kart World, and the bundle will cost £429.99, $499.99, and €509.99 in respective regions.
Nintendo Switch 2 will feature a 7.9-inch LCD screen capable of visuals up to 1080p HD and a frame rate of up to 120 frames per second, as well as HDR support. Docked to a supported TV or monitor, the visual output increases to 4K, with 120fps and HDR also available.
The new controllers - named Joy-Con 2 - connect to the system magnetically and offer mouse controls in supported games. They also feature larger, metal SL and SR buttons, larger control sticks, and the right Joy-Con 2 has a new C button for launching a chat menu for GameChat functionality.
The new system features 256GB of onboard storage, compared to the 32GB on Nintendo Switch (64GB on the OLED model); it also supported MicroSD Express cards for expanded storage, although regular microSD cards are not supported for game storage or launching.
Included in all bundles alongside the Nintendo Switch 2 console are two Joy-Con 2 controllers with grips and straps, a dock, an ultra-high-speec HDMI cable, a USB-C charging cable, and an AC adapter.
