Nintendo Direct: Metroid and Pokémon titles to get Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrades

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokémon Legends: Z-A will receive Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrades at launch.

Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games were announced during the Switch 2's Nintendo Direct presentation, and allow compatible Nintendo Switch games to be upgraded for the new system with new content, enhanced visuals, and more besides.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition will feature both standard controls and mouse controls, the latter to provide more precise aiming with Samus Aran's arm cannon. It will also provide a couple of different graphics modes, both when playing in handheld mode and in docked modes.

Players will be able to choose from either Performance mode - which runs at 120fps (frames per second) with 1080p visuals on the TV or 720p visuals in handheld mode - or Quality mode, which runs at 60fps with 4K visuals on the TV or 1080p visuals in handheld mode. Both modes also support HDR, which is available in handheld mode and on select TVs and monitors.

Meanwhile, Pokémon Legends: Z-A - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition will benefit from enhanced resolution and frame rates via its upgrade., compared to the Nintendo Switch version

Both games' Nintendo Switch 2 Editions are expected to be available on the same day as their Nintendo Switch base games. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond launches in 2025, and Pokémon Legends: Z-A launches in late 2025.
