The Western version of Final Fantasy III will launch on the Virtual Console service for the Super Nintendo this week, it has been confirmed.
Originally released in Japan as Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy III launched in North America in 1994 but was never released in Europe. Its launch on Friday will mark the first release of the original version of the game in the region.
Ports of Final Fantasy VI were released in 2002 for the PlayStation and in 2007 for the Game Boy Advance, both of which launched in Europe.
Final Fantasy III is one of five games (excluding one WiiWare demo) which will be made available for download on Friday.
