Donkey Kong Bananza, an all-new 3D platformer in the Donkey Kong series, has been announced for Nintendo Switch 2.
Revealed at the end of the Switch 2's Nintendo Direct presentation, Donkey Kong Bananza is the first 3D platformer in the Donkey Kong series since Donkey Kong 64, which was released in 1999. It features a brand new design for Donkey Kong, which is also present in Mario Kart World, and was first teased back in January when a teaser of Mario Kart was featured in the Switch 2's first-look trailer.
Donkey Kong Bananza lets players literally rip through environments by breaking off chunks of terrain to bash enemies, uncover secret paths and hidden areas, and more besides. It features a wide variety of environments, and as seen in the trailer, also has at least one homage to the Donkey Kong Country series, with a seemingly side-scrolling 2D section.
Donkey Kong Bananza launches for Nintendo Switch 2 on 17 July.
