Nintendo Direct: Bravely Default remaster announced for Nintendo Switch 2

By Jack Taylor – 4 April 2025

Bravely Default, the first title in the Bravely series originally released for Nintendo 3DS, is being remastered for Switch 2.

Announced during the Switch 2's Nintendo Direct, the Bravely Default remaster retains its original Japanese title and will be called Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster. The game will be available for Nintendo Switch on launch day (5 June).

Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster utilises a unique Brave and Default battle system, in which players can use Brave to take more turns at once at the cost of future turns, or Default to stock up turns while defending. It also features more than 20 unique jobs which can be levelled up alongside each character. Players take the role of Tiz Arrior, whose hometown was destroyed by the Great Chasm, and who fights alongside allies Agnès Oblige, Edea Lee, and Ringabel.

The remaster also features two new minigames - Luxencheer Rhythm Catch and Ringabel's Panic Cruise - which can be played with the Joy Con 2 controllers' mouse controls.

Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remastrer launches for Nintendo Switch 2 on 5 June.
